We are ready for whatever comes our way! Please remember this will be the first snowfall of the season so have patience with the crew until they get a good route down for the year! 

WED PM UPDATE: Here's our first snowfall forecast for the storm system set to bring accumulating snow Friday night through Saturday night. Our range is fairly broad given some lingering variability that could affect overall totals. Bottom line, be ready for travel to be affected on Saturday in particular. ~Snowfall Forecast Friday Evening-Noon Sunday~

A clipper system move through portions of the region Friday evening through Sunday morning. Lake effect snow will begin to fall Saturday night and last through Tuesday. There will be another snowfall forecast posted later this morning on additional snowfall after noon Sunday.

This is a difficult system to forecast because there are multiple variables at place. Temperatures will be so important of course, especially as temperatures will be dropping quickly as the system moves through. However, exactly when they do is so important. Some models are earlier and brings more than 1-2" of snow, while others is later and brings a rain/snow mix that will be nearly impossible to stick. So far, I've stuck with my band of 1-2" of snow with higher amounts along Lake Superior.

A second winter storm system will follow quickly on the heels of today's blizzard, spreading a band of snow across Iowa from late Thursday into Friday. While winds will be much lighter with that system, moderate snow accumulations are expected and will cause travel impacts which may include the Friday morning commute. The location and magnitude of higher snowfall amounts is still uncertain, so stay tuned for forecast updates over the next couple of days.

Most area roads remain partially to completely snow covered and hazardous. Snow has ended, but several counties continue to have towing not recommended. If you must travel, take it slow and be careful on ramps, while turning and when approaching stops!

Also, it's very cold out there! Today is not a good day to go into the ditch!
