DID YOU KNOW….
Most all tanker trucks are loaded from the bottom. Once the driver arrives at a fuel terminal and pulls into the loading rack, they will hook up a cord which contains a ground and electrical connection to prevent overfilling a compartment. (Most all fuel trucks have multiple compartments to allow the transport of multiple products on the same load.) The driver then hooks up a hose called a v***r recovery hose. This hose sends v***rs from the tank to a burner that burns the v***rs. Now the driver will connect “loading arms” to the tank’s piping. The terminal’s pump can pump 600 gallons per minute. In the picture referenced below, once the pumps have been started, this driver can load 8500 gallons in 5 minutes! That is the time it takes to load the largest compartment, usually a 3000 gallon compartment. The smaller compartments will start and finish while the largest compartment is being loaded. Once the tank is loaded the process to unhook is done in reverse of the above.

J.V. Gander Distributors has been busy this past month responding to both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. 4 trucks are currently in Tampa helping with fuel distribution. Our dedicated storm teams are filling cars, fleets, generators and even gas cans. These guys go above and beyond in these trying times.
