We are thrilled to introduce Earmon Smith, a vibrant native Washingtonian and a new member of The Jet family.
Earmon’s journey began with a 20-year career in physical security. He spent a decade serving as a special police officer in the heart of Washington, D.C., before moving on to a private security firm where he rose from officer to lieutenant. However, Earmon felt a yearning for change, realizing he had outgrown that chapter of his life. “I enjoyed security, but it was time to move on,” he reflects.
He then pursued a CDL to venture into tractor/trailer driving but soon discovered this path didn’t align with his family’s lifestyle. Eventually, he found his niche operating with Martz, where he spent over ten years balancing travel with the joy of returning home for dinner each night. Earmon joined The Jet in June, where he now thrives as a motor coach operator.
Earmon notes the stark differences between his past and present careers, yet he recognizes a common thread: his deep love for people. In his security roles, he was often tasked with access control and ID verification, which could feel invasive. “Greeting someone with a warm smile and explaining procedures helps ease their anxiety,” he explained.
Now at The Jet, he channels that same energy and warmth, making personal connections with passengers and ensuring a positive travel environment. “I strive to be well-informed about travel details, even taking mental notes during drives to guarantee a seamless experience for our customers.”
A pivotal influence in Earmon's life has been his wife, who has inspired him to be more empathetic. “Growing up in Southeast, we both developed a guarded demeanor as a protective measure,” he shares. “She encourages me to listen and understand rather than judge, reminding me that everyone has a story worth hearing.”
Join us in extending a heartfelt welcome to Earmon Smith, whose warmth and dedication enhance every interaction at The Jet!
