Find a way or make one.........................
That was the 1st motto I learned as a freshman at Clark Atlanta University. And honestly, it still lives in me til this day. I began my journey on social media in the middle of my story....but let's take a ride🚗 down memory lane to the very beginning.
SN: Look at me...I was a young tenderoni, look at the pincurls, oh yes they were in back then. And nobody better say anything about my bangs😂
When we lose our way, when confusion is amist, when days become dark...we try to remember "WHY" we started to get back on track. But sometimes it's necessary to remember "WHERE" we started as well. Come with me as I return back to CAU, an hbcu in Atlanta. I was invited to the new student induction and I'm so glad I attended. It brought back my memories of being in those same white chairs. I recall being so scared but determined as the first person in my immediate family to attend college. I now realize just how amazing and courageous I was as a freshman. If I could go back and meet the "freshman me', I would give her a hug and tell her how proud I am of the women she's to become🥹
I won't say college is for everyone, but the right spaces will help you grow into the best version of yourself. I felt so full after the ceremony, the energy in the building was magical.✨The waves of young black excellence was warming to my soul and I was so proud to see it.
Congratulations to all the new students, may they continue to be supported on their journey. May they build friendships that will last a lifetime. May they stand fast and remember their "WHY" when things get tough. And may they one day return back, as I did, to remember where it all began💜 CAU...once a panther, always a panther ❤️🖤
