🚨 Non-English-Speaking Drivers Can Now Be Placed Out of Service! πŸš›

Effective June 25, 2025, commercial drivers in the U.S. who cannot speak or read English well enough to communicate with safety officials, read traffic signs, or follow inspection instructions may be declared out of service (OOS) on the spot.

This change follows a new Executive Order from President Trump, reinforcing that English proficiency is now a mandatory safety requirement under federal law (49 CFR 391.11(b)(2)).

πŸ”Ή If a driver can't answer questions in English during an inspection, they won’t be allowed to drive.
πŸ”Ή FMCSA and CVSA will begin strict enforcement.
πŸ”Ή Carriers should act now to assess and train drivers accordingly.

πŸ“Œ This is a major compliance change, make sure your fleet and drivers are ready!

Inspectors will focus on both driver and vehicle safety.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸDrivers must comply with Hours-of-Service (HOS) regulations. During inspections, officials check driver documents, licenses, medical certificates, drug and alcohol status, and seatbelt use. Violations can result in drivers being placed out of service.

πŸš› Proper tire maintenance is critical to safety and cost efficiency. Inspectors check tire condition, tread depth, inflation, and look for damages. A full vehicle inspection (Level I) also covers brakes, steering, lighting, cargo securement, and more. Vehicles that pass without critical violations may receive a CVSA decal valid for three months.

βœ… A vehicle that successfully passes a Level I or V Inspection without any critical vehicle inspection item violations may receive a CVSA decal, which is valid for up to three months.
❌ If violations are found, vehicles or drivers are taken out of service until issues are corrected. In adverse conditions, inspectors may perform a less comprehensive Level II or III inspection (which do not qualify for decals).

Take action today to successfully pass Level 1 inspections.
