We are announcing today the acquisition of General Marine Service (a Baton Rouge based tank barge operator) and with that announcement we want to extend a warm welcome to all the GMS employees joining us at Parker Towing. The last round of captains along with an even larger group of wives gathered at the beautiful LauBerge Casino in Baton Rouge for the second half of the 2022 Captain’s conference.

Everyone enjoyed the event, memories were made and new relationships built. Much was accomplished and captains took away valuable information to continue to deliver outstanding performance to our customers.

We specifically give thanks to Pat Stant and the McDonough management team for attending both meetings and adding to the level of professionalism.

Again, thanks to all those involved in making the 2022 Captain’s conference a success.

Our 1st Captain’s Conference for 2022 did not disappoint. We enjoyed a great time at the beautiful LauBerge Casino in Baton Rouge with the first half of our skillful vessel managers. The wives that joined us made it even better.

Along with all the laughs we accomplished much and left with many positive takeaways, opportunities, and areas for improvement to continue our strive for excellence for our customers.

We are very sorry for the passing of one of our own. Our prayers and condolences are with John's wife, Angie, his family & close friends. Through John’s battle with cancer, he demonstrated hope, courage & resilience. He was a man of great faith ~ a fighter to the end.

John M Cohea was not only an employee of GMS, but always a true friend and part of the family with an endearing personality. There are many stories of John that date back many, many years with most everyone here at GMS. We were very grateful John chose GMS to finish out his long-time career on the river.

John showed his incredible talent and passion through his handmade knives. Many of us will continue to cherish his gifts for many years to come, a perfect remembrance of him.

John, you will be sincerely missed.

We were deeply saddened to learn Captain Stephen Costello passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022.

We pray for his family and friends & join them in mourning.

Steve was a great friend, Captain, excellent pilot. “Just knowing Steve as long as I have, I’m honored that he decided to finish his career here at GMS. He served as captain on the M/V Syble Fay for us and was trusted with one of our best customer's premier operation”.

Since he received his diagnosis, Steve demonstrated courage, resilience & hope. A hero & fighter to the end, we will sincerely miss him. May he rest in peace.
