An ode to Stumpy, a DC icon and local celebrity...our beloved cherry tree who perseveres against all odds!

When the going gets tough, we look at Stumpy and feel inspired by his ability to flower cherry blossoms year after year. However, Stumpy and all of his cherry tree friends face growing threats to their health. Climate change and increased foot traffic from visitors, plus flooding at the Tidal Basin, hurts the trees' roots and impacts their longevity. As the trees face growing threats to their health, the cherry trees need care and maintenance during all four seasons.
