Now Hiring: Flatbed Truck Drivers (Owner-Operator)

We are currently seeking experienced Flatbed Truck Drivers (Owner-Operator) to join our team hauling steel coils and other flatbed commodities.

Driver Requirements

*Must be at least 23 years old

*Minimum 2 years of verifiable driving experience

*Minimum 2 years flatbed experience hauling steel coils

*No careless, reckless, or DUI charges in the past 5 years

*Must have an acceptable MVR and PSP score

*Must pass a criminal background check (with annual reviews)

*Complete driver application

*Pass pre-employment drug screen and participate in random drug & alcohol testing

*Verification of previous employment

Equipment Requirements

*Tractor and trailer must pass DOT inspection

*Equipment must be clean and in respectable working condition

*All required equipment and supplies must be in perfect working order
(straps, chains, tarps, etc.)

*Equipment re-inspected every 6 months

Driver Benefits

*Home most weekends and sometimes during the week

*No forced dispatch

Brake Safety Week dates set with focus on drums & rotors

On the heels of its International RoadCheck inspection initiative, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has announced that its annual Brake Safety Week enforcement effort will be held Aug. 24-30.

During the week-long initiative, law enforcement personnel in the United States, Canada and Mexico will conduct routine commercial motor vehicle inspections throughout the week, focusing on brake systems and components, while educating drivers and motor carriers about the importance of brake safety and providing brake inspection and violation data to CVSA.

During the brakes-focused initiative, inspectors will focus on drums and rotors, the emphasis for this year’s brake-safety initiative. Brake drum and rotor issues may affect a vehicle’s brake efficiency. Broken pieces of drums and rotors may become dislodged from the vehicle enroute and damage other vehicles or result in injuries or fatalities to the motoring public.

Vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations, or any other out-of-service violations, will be removed from roadways until those violations are corrected.

Hiring for Transportation Accountant

Full job description:
Old South Freight Service, Inc is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable/ Receivable Specialist to join our team. We are an established trucking company that has been operating in Cedar Hill (Pleasant View area) TN. for well over 40 years.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's accounts payable/ receivable processes, payroll, invoicing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.

What You’ll Do:
Process and verify invoices for payment in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records of all accounting transactions.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounting.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks for transaction processing.
Support daily, weekly and bi-weekly payroll and payroll reporting as needed
Assist with requests from external auditors
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and receivables as well as ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
Stay updated on tax regulations and public accounting practices as they pertain to accounting.

Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Financial accounting and cost accounting experience
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Familiarity with human resources processes is advantageous.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and McLeod software is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field,
5+ years of Experience in the transportation preferred BUT not required.

International Roadcheck is scheduled for May 13-15. International Roadcheck is a high-visibility, high-volume commercial motor vehicle inspection and regulatory compliance enforcement initiative that takes place over three days in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Each year, International Roadcheck places special emphasis on a driver violation category and a vehicle violation category. This year, inspectors will pay close attention to the driver’s record of duty status and the vehicle’s tires.
