Proper nutrition for truck drivers🍴

Truckers spend most of their time on the road. For the well-being of a driver, food must be balanced and healthy. You should eat 4 times a day, but in small portions. At home, you can afford to have a hearty lunch, but while driving it is accompanied by severe drowsiness. For breakfast, it would be great to have porridge with fresh or dried fruits and tea. You can also boil a couple of eggs, fry an egg or make a cheese sandwich. Lunch is the time for homemade soup with rye bread or a meat dish with a garnish. A trucker's dinner should be light and healthy. For example, a salad with chicken or fish fillet, cottage cheese with fruit or yogurt / fermented baked milk with whole grain bread. Drink more clean water - it improves metabolism and reduces hunger. It is better to exclude sweet soda - it is high-calorie and causes bloating. Above, we talked about the correct menu, taking into account a sedentary lifestyle. But it doesn't always work out that way. And sometimes drivers eat fatty meals, which is not very good.

The difference between American 🚛 trucks and European ones.

At the moment, the sphere of cargo delivery is developing widely, and this requires a well-developed transport with all the amenities for drivers. We are all used to see large tractors on the roads that transport bulk materials or other cargo. 🤔 However, not everyone knows that these trucks in different countries don't have the same appearance. For example, American truckers work on tractors that have an extended hood. Those machines have already managed to establish themselves as a business card. Highway Angel

A North Carolina trucker has been honored for stopping a driver who was driving recklessly.

The Truckload Carriers Association recently named Corey Parker from Kenansville, North Carolina, a Highway Angel for stopping an overdosing driver who was driving erratically on a busy central Virginia highway.

In the early evening of June 21, Parker was driving south of Ashland, Virginia, when he noticed a Lexus sedan traveling recklessly from lane-to-lane.Parker blasted his horn and attempted to slow down traffic to warn travelers of the erratic driver.Fearing the driver would crash into a car full of innocent people, Parker used his truck to slow the vehicle to a stop against a concrete barrier. “The car slowed down to about 10, 15 (miles per hour) and smacked the barrier,” said Parker. “I knew that was the time to get in front of them.”

Without hesitation, Parker quickly ran to the driver’s side and opened the door and saw a Narcan pen in the driver’s lap. Naloxone or Narcan is used to reverse the effects of a drug overdose. The driver was unconscious. Moments later, police arrived.

“All I could think of was that car hitting kids or something,” shared Parker, explaining why he went to such extraordinary lengths to stop the car.  The driver of the Lexus contacted Parker to thank him for saving his life. “I’m in the process of helping him get into rehab,” shared Parker.

Often drivers are engaged in transportation at night and so 10 safety tips for driving at night:

📌Make sure you are rested and alert. If you are sleepy, the only safe cure is to get off the road and get some sleep. Even a nap can save your life or the lives of others.
📌Do a pre-trip Inspection of your vehicle. Pay attention to checking and cleaning all lights and reflectors. Dirty headlights cut down your ability to see and makes it harder for others to see you.
📌Clean your windshield and mirrors on the inside and outside. Bright lights at night can cause dirt on your windshield or mirrors to create a glare of its own, blocking your view.
📌It you wear eyeglasses, make sure they are clean and unscratched , to minimise glares from incoming lights.
📌Use high beams when you can. This will improve your ability to see ahead. Also, do not let the inside of your cab get too bright, this makes it harder to see outside.
📌Avoid blinding others, Dim your light within 500 feet of an oncoming vehicle and when following another vehicle within 500 feet.
📌Avoid glare from oncoming vehicles. Do not look directly at lights of oncoming vehicles. If other drivers don't put their low beams on, do not try to "get back at them" by putting your high beams on, this increases glare for oncoming drivers and increases the chance of a crash.
📌Adjust your speed to keep your stopping distance within your sight distance. This means going slowly enough to be able to shop within the range of your headlights.
📌Drive slower when lighting is poor or confusing.
