Visitation Rules & Information
The Illinois Department of Corrections is implementing a multi-phase plan to resume in-person visits as safely as possible. The number of visitors per two-hour time slot are limited to ensure social distancing measures are closely followed. Phase two, which takes effect June 2021, loosens restrictions for visitors and incarcerated people who are fully vaccinated.
Scheduling visits according to vaccination status permits vaccinated people in IDOC custody and their families (if all participants are vaccinated) to visit with fewer restrictions. Both the incarcerated person and all visitors (including minors) must be fully vaccinated to schedule a vaccinated visiting slot. If a visitor is vaccinated, he or she may schedule a visit during an unvaccinated time slot if necessary, but must adhere to the unvaccinated visitor rules. The below chart will help you determine what type of visit you are qualified to schedule.
Are all participating visitors vaccinated? Yes Yes No No
Is the incarcerated person you wish to visit vaccinated? Yes No Yes No
Schedule this type of visit: Vaccinated Non-vaccinated Non-vaccinated Non-vaccinated
At this time, each incarcerated person is permitted three visits per month.
