Beet juice is pretty versatile — people use it for health, cooking, and even some weirdly practical stuff.
Health/Fitness uses:
Workout booster: It’s high in nitrates, which your body turns into nitric oxide. That helps open blood vessels and improve blood flow. Lots of athletes drink it 1-2 hours before exercise for better stamina.
Blood pressure: Same nitrate effect — some studies show it can help lower blood pressure.
Recovery: Has antioxidants called betalains that may help reduce inflammation after workouts.
Food/Cooking uses:
Natural food coloring: Deep red/purple color makes it great for dyeing frosting, pasta, eggs, or even homemade Play-Doh. No artificial dyes.
Smoothies & juice blends: Adds earthy sweetness + color. Mixes well with apple, carrot, ginger, or orange.
Soups & sauces: Base for borscht, or a splash to deepen color/flavor in vinaigrettes and glazes.
Baking: Sneak moisture + color into chocolate cake or red velvet — you won’t taste “beet” once it’s baked.
Other uses:
Natural dye: Tie-dye fabric, color Easter eggs, or use as a temp hair tint on light hair. Heads up: it stains everything, including hands and cutting boards.
Garden: Some people dilute it and use as a mild fertilizer because of the nutrients.
It’s earthy-tasting solo, so most people mix it. Fair warning: don’t panic if it turns your pee/poop pink — that’s “beeturia” and totally normal.
