As we prepare ourselves for a new era on this Crewsmas morning, a reading from the Olde Testament to remember our roots:
The Supporters and the Angels
8 And there were supporters living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their preseason boredom. 9 An angel of Lamar appeared to them, and the glory of the Lamar shone around them, and they were excited. 10 The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great goals that will be for all the supporters. 11 Today in the town of Columbus a season has been born to you; it is Crewmas at last. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a team wrapped in yellow and playing in a stadium." 13 Suddenly a great company of passionate supporters appeared with the angel, praising Lamar and saying, 14 "Glory to Columbus! Go! Lets go Columbus! Glory to Columbus! Here we goooooooooo." 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the supporters said to one another, "Let's go to Crew Stadium and see this thing that has happened, which Lamar has told us about." 16 So they hurried off and found the Black and Gold, and the season which was ready to be played. 17 When they had seen the tailgating, they spread the word concerning what had been told to them about this season. 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the supporters said to them. 19 The supporters treasured all these things and sang with all their heart. 20 The supporters returned to the North Corner chanting "Columbus 'til I die" and praising Lamar for all the goals they had seen, which were just as they had been told.
