Can you imagine how much these would help out in Western, Station Street, Colvintown, Knotty Oak Rd, etc!! If we could buy these for every house stop we would!!!

This should not significantly impact our high school routes, however, it will likely cause delays for many middle and elementary schools. It is going to take us longer to get out of Wood Estates after High School, so please be patient as we do our best for those two weeks.

👏 The Coventry Department of Public Works has performed exceptionally well this week. Over the past two days, our team has been conducting a thorough assessment of the area and found that the roads, although narrow in some places like Hammet and Franklin, are generally manageable for our buses. There are still a few concerns out of our control.
Monday morning ice, cars parked on narrow roads, and unsafe bus stops.

To help, residents can take the following steps:
❄️ salt and sand at bus stops in front of their homes to prevent slipping hazards for bus monitors
🚗 encourage neighbors to park in driveways during bus hours,
🚌 🛑 identify the safest place for your child to wait for the bus and be visible. If your bus stop is not safe, find the nearest safe location on the same street and be visible. Flag us down, but don't chase!
👀 ensure children are supervised at bus stops. Safety is our top priority.

We have received several messages about bus stop safety due to the mounds of snow all over the corners and sidewalks. This will likely continue to be a concern next week when we come back. Hopefully by then we will be able to get down every road we normally do. Whatever happens, find the closest, safest spot on that road for your child to wait and BE VISIBLE!

As soon as you see the bus coming down the road, raise your hands and be seen. Do not sit in your car waiting. Do not hide behind snow banks or in your house. Have something bright to hold up in the air - if we see you we will stop.

Do not assume that the driver knows your car or where you live exactly - if there is a substitute (which happens daily), they will be looking for nearly invisible house numbers and mailboxes that often do not follow normal sequence (especially in Western). Our drivers eyes will be ALLLL over the road with so many blind spots, so please please find something over the next 4 days that will help you and your children be seen!
