The Seed of Patience:

I started with one luxury white sedan

Patience! Ten years later, 105709 invoices and 2,385 clients served, I can still remember a time when I was giving out more free complimentary rides than I was charging in the first year of business. Building a clientele isn’t easy—it requires grit, determination, and patience. If anyone reading this story can relate to me, then you know that patience is something I’ve had to mature and grow in. It’s one of the fruits of the spirit that, as a Christian, we’re called to nurture and produce in our everyday lives - Galatians 5:22-23.

I look back at my very first year in business: we made $9,000 in revenue over the six months that year, then $35,000 the next, and $80,000 the year after. You get the picture. Those early seeds of networking rides, referrals from clients, and preparing the sedan (car washes, tire shine, mints, and water) all paid off—along with being available to serve and book reservations, even at all hours of the night! It was hard work, but it paid off in major ways: contracts, high-profile clients, a college football team, and a base of loyal, faithful customers.

Thank you to everyone who has supported JIFE Luxury and helped it continue to grow and serve. May Christ bless you all for your prayers, referrals, kind reviews, and for pouring into my business.

Remember, no matter what you’re working on in life, patience is a fruit you will have to produce over time. We started with one client on June 19, 2015, and look how far we’ve come.

Beyond The Surface

This March, as I approach my 51st birthday, I've come to realize one important truth about people: they desire to be seen. They desire to be acknowledged by their spouses, recognized by their children, noticed by their bosses for their hard work, and valued by family members and friends.

This insight has resonated strongly with me, especially because throughout my own life, particularly my teenage and college years, I am grateful to Christ Jesus for placing people in my life who saw more in me than just a young Black man coming from a single-parent home.

I remember a time when I visited my God-grandmother, and out of nowhere, she prepared a meal for me because she noticed that I was hungry and didn't have any money. I also recall my God-mother from church, who loaned me her spare car for two weeks so I could attend classes at Southern University without interruption. Little did they know God was using their kindness to help shape me into the man that I am today. A husband, father, son, brother, and to my amazement, a successful business owner in Dallas, TX.

So, my challenge to you is to recognize the beauty in others. Offer a kind word, plant seeds of affirmation within your circle of influence, and as Christians, see the beauty in those who are lost. Just because someone misplaces their diamond ring doesn’t mean it has lost its value; the same goes for those who have yet to surrender their lives to Christ. Let us strive to see the beauty in people!
