Our minds are on our many customers from the Western part of NC & the southeast region. The reports of flooding are devastating. We know all too well the damage of flood waters and we continue to pray.

Our hearts and prayers are with you. We hope to see check in’s from you and know you are safe.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
Just wanted to give an update on what's been going on with us at Davis Shore Ferry Service.
I had a total hip replacement and am doing very well. Three days before my surgery, Lanier had a cardiac event that has required 2 stints, a Life Vest, probably a long extensive cardiac rehab and a life change for all of us.
So, with all of that, our family has decided its time to bring our long run to an end. Four generations of our family have been able to make a living at our life. We appreciate all who chose to be a part of that by using our service through the years.
Many have become as dear to us as family. We have been blessed beyond measure!
I pray everyone has a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
With much love,
Annette, Lanier & Mitch

Kitty has been found! Hope they keep he/she leashed or kennels from now on. They are very, very lucky. Through the years others have not been so lucky. Lesson learned I hope.

UPDATE 9/30/2023

Official word from NPS…the island will remain open for camping ONLY.
No cabins, ice or gas. No NPS personnel. No restrooms. No showers.
Not sure how the sticker issue will work yet.
It will work the way it did during the pandemic.

I know everyone is wondering how the government shut down will affect the island. Got an email from the Superintendent of Cape Lookout today. It seems even they don't know yet and won't until Sunday. If you have reservations for Sunday, Oct 1, you will have to make the decision whether it is worth the chance. Please call us if you decide not to come. Once we have information we will post here and and start making phone calls. I wish I had more definite info.

We are back running this morning, Sunday, Sept 24.

09/21/2023

Well, here we go again. Friday ferries have been cancelled. Saturday forecast isn't looking good either. The weather this year has not been kind. The next thing up is the possible government shut down.
Are we having fun yet????

I wish I had a crystal ball. For customers that have reservations from Thursday, Aug 31 through Labor Day weekend, the forcast is not looking good.
Hurricane Franklin in the Atlantic will be pushing high water along the east coast on a weekend of King tides.
Also, TS Idalia is predicted to become a major Hurricane and forecast to hit Florida by Wednesday evening. If the center of circulation stays over land we may still get rain as it moves north . BUT, if the center of circulation comes out over the Gulf stream on the east coast, we are looking at a whole new ballgame.
NPS is having meetings today and should be sending emails to us over the next 2 days.
I will be posting as I get information .
