This past Saturday a team from First Student DeKalb ran a food drive at Hy-Vee. We would first like to thank Hy-Vee for partnering with us. Everybody at Hy-Vee was so kind and welcoming.

We were blown away by the generosity and kindness of the customers that we ran into. We received an incredible amount of donations of canned goods, paper goods, boxed goods and other non-perishable items. At First Student we believe that every family deserves food on their table this Thanksgiving. We are so appreciative that the community worked so hard to help us make that happen.

Today we dropped off all of the donations to Barb Food Mart, who services the families that we bus every day. Thank you to Barb Food Mart for accepting our donations. Thank you to Barb Food Mart for what you do for the families in our district every week.

From all of us at First Student DeKalb, thank you to everyone who came out to our Fun Fair hiring event yesterday! We had so much fun! Our event was a huge success, with lots of applications put in and plenty of on-site interviews!

The children (and adults!) loved dunking a bus driver in our dunk tank! Our games were all a huge hit and everybody loved bouncing around in the bounce house! Our team kept everybody fed with hotdogs, chips, and lots of sweet treats!

We had an awesome team of trainers running test drives for the “Big bus, no big deal!”. The community did an excellent job test driving our buses. Plenty of the test drives were followed by applications and interviews.

Thank you again to everybody who showed up! We look forward to some new faces joining our awesome crew this coming school year!

Did you see a lot of buses out this morning?

Our First Student Dekalb team had their "Mock Day" today. Coordinating all the routes is a herculean task. With a fleet of 100+ buses and vans and thousands of students, practice makes perfect!

Big shout out to our dispatch/office team for piecing together last minute routes. They are an amazing group of hardworkers that will keep juggling and balancing coverage and routes all year long.

On July 22nd, and Aug 5th the team at First Student DeKalb held a School Supplies Drive for DeKalb School District 428. We collected an incredible amount of school supplies! We had a blast meeting so many people and seeing some of our students!

At First Student, we believe that every student deserves a full backpack on the first day of school. We are so thankful to Walmart and Meijer for partnering with us! We are so grateful to the outstanding community that we are part of for helping us make a difference in the lives of the students we transport every day.

It is going to be a fantastic school year! We look forward to seeing all of our students on the first day of school!

The Diversity and Inclusion Council is proud to recognize and honor June 19, also known as Juneteenth.

The historically significant date in American history marks the end of slavery in the United States and we encourage everyone to listen, learn, and take time to reflect on the importance of this day.

While Juneteenth is a celebratory time to spend with family and friends, it’s also a day filled with mixed emotions. It’s a sharp reminder of America’s dark past, the struggle for civil rights, and the ongoing fight for equality and equity in all aspects of our modern society. Today, we celebrate freedom for all!

We encourage everyone to recognize this very important day with their team members and in the communities they serve.
