Everyone expected demand to lead the next freight cycle. Capacity had other plans. 🚛

Truckload contract rates passed $3.20 a mile this quarter, diesel set a record, and the pool of qualified drivers kept shrinking. Volumes stayed soft for most of Q3. Then in August, shipments turned positive year over year for the first time in 42 months.

So now demand is finally showing up, and there are fewer trucks to meet it. Our Q3 2026 Industry Update looks at how the quarter played out in truckload, LTL, international, parcel, and cross-border freight, and what shippers should expect in Q4 and beyond.

Ian Leonard, Chief Meteorologist at Fox 9, hosts this annual event to raise funds for two incredible organizations: Special Olympics Minnesota and the PGA REACH Foundation. We’re honored to be part of a day that combines a little fun on the course with a whole lot of good.
