FYI - status of the parks located in the Town of Poolesville ......

5/31/20 - Updated Town Park Information:

As of June 1st at 8am, all town parks will be open for public use. There will be no cleaning of any of the park equipment. Any use of the park amenities is at your own risk and signs will be posted in the parks noting the same. No rental of pavilions will be permitted until group activities are permitted by the County Executive.. The restrooms will remain closed. There is no timeline for when the restrooms will be opened. Please understand this decision to not open the restrooms is based on both the ability to consistently obtain proper cleaning supplies and for the health, safety and welfare of town staff that would have to clean the restrooms. Social distancing and groups of no more than 10 is still in effect and must be observed. The Town would like to thank the residents for understating that closing and reopening the parks was done with careful and deliberate consideration.

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park

What does Maryland's "Safer at Home Public Health Advisory" mean for the C&O Canal NHP?

The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners continues to be paramount. Our operational approach will be to examine each facility function and service provided to ensure those operations comply with current public health guidance. Decisions on a phased resumption of operations are being made and will be regularly monitored.

Open:
✅ Towpath
✅ Hiking trails
✅ Boat ramps

Closed:
🛑 Some parking areas including at Great Falls, Anglers, Carderock, and Fletchers Cove
🛑 Visitor centers, restrooms, and water sources
🛑 All campgrounds, including hiker-biker sites, are still closed until further notice

Remember:
🔸 Park only in designated areas
🔸 Pack out everything you bring in
🔸 Maintain 6 ft (2 m) social distance from others
🔸 Limit gatherings to 10 or less people
🔸 Stay on marked trails
🔸 Park rangers remain on duty and normal regulations still apply

"We know that in general, outside activity is safer than inside activity, and that at all times and everywhere, Marylanders should continue practicing physical distancing and trying to stay six feet apart and to continue avoiding close gatherings of 10 people or more," Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.

Is the ferry currently open/operating without issue/delay? I’m headed there to get to VA, but someone just told me that a downed tree/other debris is causing delays/potential closure. Hoping you’re running smoothly & having a great day!
Hope everyone stayed safe this morning???!!!!
I can remember as a very young boy going across the river with my dad going to Virginia.it had to be in 1930 or 31,it was very hot and when we got off on the other side my bother took me to the edge of the river and bathe me to cool me off William f ROLLISON
How much does it cost for a commuter's pass that goes Mon-Fri roundtrip from MD?
Sharon and her team were awesome today during this morning's tractor trailer debacle on the Va. side. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for quickly resolving the situation and your wonderful sense of humor. :-) I have contacted VDOT by phone (spoke to a real person :-o) and also emailed them with pictures in hopes that they will put up a sign on Rt. 15 to prohibit tractor trailers from going down White's Ferry Rd. on the Va side.
planning a visit to family in Leesburg...what are costs for ferry service for following vehicles please? 125cc scooter, 250cc small motorcycle, mid size suv
