Happy Earth Day! We can make the Earth a healthier place by taking public transportation. Did you know that riding public transportation is one of the most effective personal actions for environmental protection, as it significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, conserves energy, and improves local air quality. According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), U.S. public transportation saves approximately 37 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. Let's ride together!

Connect Douglas is proud to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony for our 10 new buses, marking an important step forward in enhancing public transportation in Douglas County. One of the buses features a brand-new design with bright blue coloring, specifically chosen to improve visibility on the road. This vibrant color makes the bus more noticeable to our paratransit riders, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. This effort will also increase safety for everyone in the community.

Beyond safety, the bright blue design symbolizes Connect Douglas’ commitment to innovation and accessibility. By making our buses more visually distinctive, we aim to encourage more residents to choose public transit as a convenient and reliable transportation option. This update is part of our ongoing effort to modernize services, reduce traffic congestion, and support environmentally friendly transportation alternatives.
