Lyon County Area Transit provides transportation to people in Lyon County - to and from school, work, shopping, medical appointments or just out to eat with friends and/or family. Rides within Emporia and up to a five-mile radius outside the city limits cost $2.00 each way. A round-trip ride outside the five-mile radius of Emporia, but within Lyon County is $10.00. We also have passes that can hel

p cut down on costs for frequent riders: 10-Ride Pass for $15, 30-Day Pass for $35, Family Passes (5 max.) We also provide Regional Transportation, which takes you outside Lyon County to places like Topeka, Kansas City, Wichita, El Dorado, anywhere we can transport within our operating hours of 6a.m.-6p.m. We do ask for a two-week notice on all Regional trips, and costs range from $30.00 and up/round trip.

We at LCAT would like to say "Thank You!" for your patience at this time. We have had a bit of bad luck with some larger scale repairs on a few vehicles in our fleet and this has left us short compared to our normal operations. We hope that within a week we should be back in full swing. You are the best and we are grateful to each and all of you.

At the Kansas Public Transit Association Authorities conference, August 11-13, 2025, Shane Brunner, Director of the Lyon County Area Transportation (LCAT), received the 2025 Appreciation Award for his assistance with various transportation projects and for going above and beyond to assist passengers outside the Lyon County service area!

Shane has worked with the Lyon County Commission as well as the East Central Kansas Coordinated Transit Council to have our local LCAT office named as the host site for mobility management. He has numerous goals in mind as this effort develops, including the reduction of transportation barriers. He indicated that in District 5, there are over 20 transportation agencies to be coordinated, so this will be an ongoing project.

Thank you, Shane, for all you do for LCAT, the Lyon County community, and District 5!

• County Trips Available Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

Reminder that $10 round trip charge applies to all destinations outside Emporia city limits (but still within Lyon County). We're committed to providing reliable service and appreciate your understanding. For questions, reach out to our dispatch team.

We also provide Regional Transportation, which travels to places like Topeka, Wichita, El Dorado, or anywhere in the State of Kansas.
