At what point are these airlines financially liable to their customers? Here are two of the latest experiences our passengers have been forced to endure:
1. American Airlines cancels a flight to Las Vegas 2 hours before it is to depart. They rebook the passengers on a flight 6 hours later and then cancel that flight a half hour before it is to depart. 4 hours after the second flight was cancelled, after waiting for American to give them their luggage back, they headed home WITHOUT their luggage and will try to depart the next day.
2. A flight from Ft. Lauderdale was delayed 4 hours and finally arrived at the gate at 10:10pm. Our passengers waited over an hour for their bags at the carousel, after being conditioned by American over the years, but still the carousel never started. There was no American employees anywhere to be found at the ‘Customer Assitance’ desk nor any American employee in the entire terminal. After several irate passengers attempted to find anyone, 3 police officers show up and direct them to an entirely different terminal to collect their luggage. Of course, the luggage was not there either. So, after an hour and a half, the passengers again went home empty handed, only to have to return the following day to find their belongings.
These are just a 2 examples of the staffing issues that are affecting passengers after these airlines took millions of government money to stay in business, but cannot service the passengers who have paid good money for normal operating procedures that the airlines are not providing. What compensation do these passengers get in return….NOTHING!
American Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights in 24 hours and blamed staffing shortages and weather disruptions. American Airlines told workers they must be fully vaccinated against Covid by November 24 or face termination. According to the pilot union at American, 30% – or 4,200 – of airli...
