Lavigne Bus Company was started in 1970 by Alex and Valerie LaVigne. Initially, it was started with one school bus that drove around Jefferson County to take people to and from work at Opportunities Inc. Within a few years it expanded to five vehicles and into neighboring counties in order to fulfill this need. again expanded into a door through door transportation service for people to and from t

heir medical appointments. As the need for this service grew, so did the company. with a fleet of over thirty vehicles, most of which are able to accommodate wheelchairs, we now service any Wisconsin are in which a need arises. All of our drivers are trained in the use of wheelchair lifts, ramps, and the 4-point wheelchair tie downs. Every vehicle is state inspected and meets all ADA codes.

At approximately 7:18 Friday morning one of our busses carrying passengers from their homes to work at Opportunities, Inc. was involved in an accident on highway 106. The cause of the accident is still under investigation but we are cooperating fully with county and state police to aid in their efforts.

Although we are grateful there were no fatalities, we cannot ignore the physical and emotion suffering of the passengers. We will continue to use every resource at our disposal to support those affected.

We would like to thank the community for their outpouring of thoughts and prayers and ask that they keep the families in their hearts through this long road to recovery.

We would also like to thank the quick emergency response from ours and surrounding communities. Without their dedication and expertise this tragedy could have been even more devastating.

A special thank you for the thoughts and prayers offered from the staff and residents of Alden Estates of Countryside, the vice-president of DR Medical Rides, the staff at Medical Transportation Management, Care Wisconsin, Powers Tire, and Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Extended Care.
