We’ve all been told something similar by our parents, teachers, pastors, friends, etc. yet most of us (myself included) seem to ignore, at least at times, what seems to be a basic principle of life.

Why do so many of us fight to hold on to relationships that are no longer mutually fulfilling?

Why do we accept relationships that drag us down rather than build us up? Just food for thought.

The Impact of Inflation on Independent Trucking Owner Operators

If you're an independent trucking owner operator, then you know that the cost of operating your business has been on the rise. Fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and even the price of new trucks have all gone up in recent years. But one expense that often gets overlooked is the impact of inflation on your bottom line.

Inflation is a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money. In other words, it takes more money to buy the same goods and services as time goes on. And while this might not seem like a big deal at first, over time, inflation can have a significant impact on your business.

For instance, let's say you purchased a new truck for $150,000 five years ago. Today, that same truck would cost you about $185,000 due to inflation - assuming that you're lucky enough to get your hands on a new truck at all these days - that's an extra $35,000 that you have to come up with just to keep your business running at the same level as it was five years ago!

And it's not just the price of new trucks that's affected by inflation; the cost of repairs and maintenance has also increased. So even if you're not in the market for a new truck, you're still feeling the pinch when it comes to keeping your existing fleet on the road.

As an independent trucking owner operator, it's important to be aware of how inflation can impact your business. By understanding the factors that are driving up costs, you can make adjustments to your budget and pricing to make sure that your business is able to weather the effects of inflation.

The trucking industry is constantly changing and evolving. Every year, there are new trends and changes to watch out for. If you're in the trucking business, it's important to stay up-to-date on the latest forecast for 2022. In this blog post, we'll discuss some of the most important things to expect in the coming year. Whether you're a truck driver, owner-operator, or fleet manager, you need to know what's ahead!

One of the most important things to watch out for in 2022 is the rise in electric trucks. Trucking companies are starting to invest in electric vehicles, and it's only a matter of time before they become the norm. If you're not prepared for this change, you could be left behind. Electric trucks are more efficient and produce fewer emissions, so they're better for the environment. They also have a lower total cost of ownership, so they'll save you money in the long run. If you haven't already, now is the time to start looking into electric trucks for your business.

Another big change to expect in 2022 is an increase in automation. Trucking companies are always looking for ways to cut costs, and automation is one way to do that. We've already seen automated trucks on the road in Europe and Australia, and it's only a matter of time before they come to the US. If you're not prepared for this change, you could find yourself out of a job. Truck drivers will need to be trained in how to operate these new trucks, so it's important to stay ahead of the curve.

The last thing to expect in 2022 is a shortage of drivers. The Trucking Industry Association estimates that there will be a shortage of 160,000 truck drivers by 2022. This is due to a number of factors, including the retirement of baby boomers and the lack of young people entering the industry. If you're a truck driver, now is the time to start thinking about your future. The trucking industry is changing, and you need to be prepared for what's ahead.

Trucking is an essential part of the US economy, and it's always changing. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, you need to be prepared for what's coming. Keep an eye out for these three changes in 2022, and you'll be one step ahead of the competition. Thanks for reading!
