We deeply regret having to announce the loss of Brooke Jewell, who was taken from us so unexpectedly early Sunday morning in a fatal car accident. We are still reeling from the news and just can’t believe that she is gone.
For those of us who have been part of Truckmen for a long time, we have watched Brooke grow up. Daughter of one of the owners of Truckmen, Dave Jewell and his wife Melissa, I remember meeting Brooke when she was about five years old coming into the office with her mom. In high school, Brooke started helping out at the shop and in the office. She was always eager to learn and picked things up quickly. She worked here as a dispatcher after she graduated and then most recently as Shop Office Manager.
Brooke had a lot of health challenges that she faced since she was young, but she always faced them head on and when she got knocked down, she picked herself up and kept on going. She was as tenacious as they come. The Shakespeare quote “Though she be but little, she is fierce” describes Brooke well.
Our hearts go out to her family, Dave and Melissa and her brother Bradley. Words cannot express how sad we feel. I have had a revolving door of employees offering to do something and help in some way, but it is difficult to know how to help when it comes to grief.
For the last few years it has been Brooke that has managed this Facebook account- posting employee anniversaries and funny Mrs. Clause Christmas videos. She has been the face of Truckmen for so many.
Please keep the Jewell family in your thoughts and prayers during this extraordinarily difficult time.
