Missionaries Jim and Annette Coleman of Howertons Baptist Church attended our Monthly General Membership Business Meeting to thank our members for the donation of several buses. These buses will be shipped to Africa for use by people in need of transportation. Before you ask how or why we had buses to donate, we’re glad to tell “the rest of the story”.
Awhile back, we held “heavy vehicle extrication” training at our Harcum Training Facility. Newton’s Bus Services generously donated several old buses to us that were placed in various positions such as atop automobiles so that we could practice stabilization techniques and where to safely “cut” on these vehicles to extricate occupant/victims. Once we were finished cutting on these vehicles, they no longer met DOT standards for transporting anyone on U.S. Highways, and Newton’s told us we were free to dispose of them any way we wished. It just so happens that these buses can be repaired and utilized in another country where the safety standards are not as stringent as required here in the States, and they will have a new life transporting people on the other side of the Atlantic! And that, as Paul Harvey would say (for those old enough to remember who Paul Harvey was) is the rest of the story!

UPDATE: Returned home.

FOUND DOG!! We have a pug that wandered into Newton’s Bus Service on Belroi Road and has apparently decided he now works here.

He walked in like he owns the place, did a quick inspection of the buses, and has refused to clock out ever since.

Unfortunately he’s a little shy (or just playing hard to get) and won’t let us get close enough to check his collar. We’re trying to respect his personal space while also figuring out which human he belongs to.

If you’re missing a very confident pug with strong management energy, he’s currently hanging out at Newton’s Bus Service on Belroi Road conducting what appears to be a very thorough DOT safety audit. 🐶🚌

If he’s yours (or you know whose tiny supervisor he is), please message us so we can reunite him with his people before he starts assigning trips and demanding employee benefits.

UPDATE: We have him safe inside the shop for the night and animal control is coming in the am. Please reach out if you know the owners.

Last night we had the absolute honor of celebrating the heart of Newton’s Bus Service — our incredible employees — at our 2025 Employee Dinner & Awards.

Since 1953, Newton’s Bus Service has been built on dedication, pride, and family values. What started over 70 years ago continues today because of the people who show up every single day with professionalism and heart. Some of our drivers have been behind the wheel for over 50 years, and that kind of loyalty and commitment is something you just can’t replicate.

From milestone anniversaries to well-earned awards, we celebrated the stories, the laughs, the years of safe miles, and the generations that make this company what it is. We are beyond grateful for every driver, mechanic, dispatcher, cleaner, and team member who chooses Newton’s as their second home.
