I am trying organize a load to WNC and TN for the farmers that have been decimated. I have been in direct contact with NC State Extension office. As much as the main stream media has moved on to other news, our neighbors to the south are still suffering. What they are looking for is HAY, lots and lots of Hay. Theirs was washed away, soaked or otherwise contaminated. The other big needs are fencing, solar chargers, t-posts, feed for all sorts of farm animals. If you are unsure what to donate, let me know and I can offer suggestions.

Depending on what we can collect here, I will find the correct vehicle (vehicles) to haul it down. If you want to help with transport - let me know.

I am hoping to make the trip around Thanksgiving. I know times are tough for all of us, but if we give just a little - it will mean a lot to our southern neighbors. More info will be forthcoming about donation locations or pick-up. I am just putting this out here - I will be happy taking a loaded car down or a tractor-trailer full.

Just a reminder 2290's are due tomorrow to the IRS. Yes, that time of year when all good transportation professionals that own the truck must pay $550 per truck, for the privilege of driving on an aging infrastructure.

Convoy for a Cause: September 3 Amsterdam, NY
Convoy for a Cause, benefiting local charities, is happening September 3, 2017!

Registration will take place from 8:00- 9:45 a.m. at Beech-Nut, One Nutrition Place, Amsterdam, NY. Roll out is at 10:00. The convoy will arrive at Fonda Fairgrounds at 11:00.

Show & Shine will start after convoy arrives on the fairgrounds and will include truck time trials, a truck parade and truck pulls.

Truck pulls will include 3 classes: Lightning, Thunder, and Open, with monetary prizes ranging from $100 to $500 given to the top four finishers, and trophies for the top six places.
Other trophies will be awarded for best of show, most lights, oldest truck, and largest fleet.

Registration fee is $50.00 per vehicle + one new unwrapped toy to support the efforts of Capital Region Toys for Tots. This fee includes entry in the convoy, admission into the fair for the day, and fees for the time trials, truck pulls, and pulling fee.

100% of the registration fee and donations will go to local charities.

There will be no registrations at the fairgrounds. All trucks must meet at Beech-Nut and participate in the convoy.

ELD's
I am going to break this down as easily as I can.
You do NOT need an ELD IF
1. Travel within the 100 air mile rule or 150 mile for vehicles between 10,001 up to 26,000lbs
2. Transport livestock
3. Have a tractor that is Model year 1999 or older (still no clear rule on where manufactured 1999 year comes into play)

There are a few other exemptions but that is the main exceptions.

Yes, there are provisions in 2 different congressional bills to either kill ELD's or push the implementation date back 2 years. Call or write your representative. OOIDA Business Education has a form letter.

It is 5pm on May 1st. The deadline for 1st Qtr IFTA, HUT, KYU, etc is tonight at midnight. Is there anyone else out there that needs a last minute filing? Give us a call. 518-796-8601.

New York State is on an audit kick, HUT, IFTA , IRP and of course DOT audits. Everytime I turn around lately someone else is getting audited for something. Please record keeping is very important. Trip sheets (bill of ladings), log books, fuel reciepts. All of it, keep it, throw it in a tub and forget about. But please make sure you keep it.
