The Pipeline and Fixed Asset Accountant will prepare financial reports, perform account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger and perform research as necessary. In addition, will be responsible for filing FERC and TRRC reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Book monthly journal entries
• Reconcile accounts
• PPE Cycle – Book additions, retirements, depreciation; reconcile GL & Subledger, update roll forwards
• Review AP batches
• Assist with audit
• Regulatory reporting including VEX T1 filing, GMT/VEX EIA 813 filing and VEX sales tax filing
• Pipeline accounting duties including invoicing, scheduling, and reconciling inventory.
• Communicate with pipeline shippers and other customers about issues and resolve problems.
• Provide support and analysis, as required, to support FERC reporting responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls
• Monitor property tax process and payments for multiple entities
• Monitor and submit excise/sales taxes
Skill Requirements
• Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, FERC, TRRC
• Ability to research issues and formulate solutions
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with others to effectively accomplish goals.
• Strong accounting, quantitative, and analytical skills
• Detail oriented
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Highly motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to take ownership and full responsibility of work product and to take on new tasks with higher levels of difficulty.
• Ability to develop and improve processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products, including intermediate Excel skills.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• 1-2 years pipeline and regulatory accounting/filing experience preferred
• Public accounting experience preferred
• Great Plains experience preferred
