Seventy years of grit, growth, and greatness. From seafood runs in the 1950s to nationwide networks and modern tech, each decade has shaped who we are today. The people, the stories, the miles — they built the foundation of RFX. Here’s to the decades that defined us… and to the new era ahead.

"Jim Morse’s leadership helped shape the very foundation of who we are today. His commitment to integrity, excellence, and people-first values left an enduring legacy that continues to guide RFX forward" - Nate Lourie, President & CEO

Jim always loved the Company and after a few years of retirement, he wanted to help in any way he could utilizing his 52-year career in logistics. To say we are thrilled to have Jim Morse (aka: Moose) back on the team is an understatement.
Don't worry - "Moose" is still finding time to enjoy his semi-retirement!! He started running back in 1998 and has ran competitively in 147 races including 3 marathons (Boston Marathon twice), 41 half marathons, and everything in between. Jim has even run in all 50 states, Canada, Bahamas, England, Ireland, & Northern Ireland!! He is most proud of the 3 marathons. Except for marrying his bride of 53 years, the birth of their 2 kids and 3 grandkids, the first Boston Marathon was the "greatest thing" he's ever done.
As if that's not enough -- since "retiring," Jim also has a part time job as a certified lifeguard at a major fitness center in town AND has recorded 73 songs as he is the "one man band."

💡RFX embraced technology in the mid-90s. It was a game-changer for the company’s operations.

Through the Years - RFX in the 80’s
📉 "Change or die." - Tom Welby, 1987. The 80s were a decade of transformation for RFX, as the company faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger than ever. He brought in Jim Morse as a part of the new leadership team.
💻 The 80s marked the end of the Twix machines! RFX embraced technology with Fujitsu hardware and custom - built software, leaving behind manual processes and stepping into the future.
🏆 The first-ever Owner Operator of the Year award was given to Warren “Bud” Candee, who proudly represented RFX for 32 years.
🛠️ The company activated its brokerage license, officially launching RFX Inc. and setting the stage for future growth.

Through the Years - RFX in the 70's 🚚

🚛 In 1978, Tom Welby Jr. stepped into the role of President, becoming the 2nd generation owner of RFX.

❤️‍🩹Not only were they facing a period of industry deregulation, the company mourned the loss of Marion Welby, a beloved leader. These challenges almost broke the company, but Tom Jr.’s resilience, and quick thinking led RFX forward in this period of change.

🏠In 1968, Lloyd Chester opened agency offices in Columbus OH and Detroit MI. In 1976, Lloyd’s son, Danny, took over the Columbus OH operation and after 47 years in 2023, he is still going strong with RFX. During this time Shirley Bellavance was hired in the accounting department, and still works for us today! All throughout the years, she has been the glue that kept things together.

💡The deregulation of the trucking industry in the late 1970s was a direct follow-up to the Federal-Aid Highway Amendments of 1974, it highlighted the inefficiencies caused by outdated regulations and helped the start of formal deregulation that would follow.

☎️ Old dispatch logs tell stories of securing trucks at midnight for urgent shipments, with staff using pay-phones on the roadside to confirm details. This proved RFX’s ability to adapt and deliver.

"Jeff is indispensable to our success. His initiative, problem-solving skills, and commitment keep our team moving forward.” - Jason Gassman, CFO
Jeff Simons joined us one year ago because he "heard nothing but good things about the company" and we're happy to have him on . Jeff enjoys spending time with his family and anything sports related. A true team player; in school Jeff placed 25th in the National Chess Tournament for his division and played football -- even his college thesis was on fans storming the court at sporting events.

Through the Years - RFX in the 60's 🚚
🚛 After Tom Sr.’s sudden passing in 1960, Marion Welby took over as President of RFX, stepping into the role with no trucking experience but unmatched determination.
💡 She surrounded herself with strong advisors, learned quickly, and led the company to consistent growth and profitability.
🎄 At Christmas parties, Marion’s generosity shone—she gifted pearl necklaces to women employees, a gesture remembered for generations.
📈 Under her leadership, RFX grew stronger every quarter, earning respect from customers, competitors, and contractors alike.
❄︎ She made history by purchasing the first Thermo-King unit sold in Massachusetts, supporting the Dimitri family’s new business.
🎶 Marion loved a good sing-a-long, hiring accordion players to bring joy to RFX’s annual celebrations.

“Big shoutout to Brian on the Capacity team. The guy’s a machine—always stepping up, always reliable. Whether it’s helping a carrier, backing up a teammate, or keeping our customers covered, he’s locked in. Brian handles our dedicated carrier relationships like a pro and never hesitates to go the extra mile. We appreciate everything you do, Brian!” - Kevin Simons, Vice President
Brian says RFX is truly like family and he knew right away it was the right place for him. When he’s not working, he enjoys time with his wife and daughter, going to baseball games, being in the wilderness, and driving go karts. He has also performed in Rodeos and can play 4 instruments!
