This happened just last Saturday in Southern California: a massive semi-truck crossed the median and plowed into oncoming traffic, killing a woman and injuring dozens, including children.

While investigators look into why this happened, it serves as a massive wake-up call. We cannot afford to put unqualified drivers on our roadways. When safety standards slip, innocent lives are lost.

Let’s make road safety and strict driver qualifications a priority before another family suffers.

Good afternoon, PTAG members. As we close out Q2 2026, the trucking market is experiencing a significant supply-driven capacity squeeze.

Driven by a surge in pre-holiday shipping, regional produce peaks, and recent tariff adjustments, spot rates are climbing sharply, with national tender rejections hitting 15% to 18%.

While flatbed and re**er demand remains exceptionally strong, operational costs require tight management.

Diesel prices have eased slightly to a $5.05 - $5.21 national average, but they remain elevated compared to last year.

Action item: Recalculate your exact cost-per-mile, leverage this tight capacity during contract renewals, and keep your wheels turning safely.

At the PTAG organization, we firmly believe professional truck drivers deserve respect, not constant surveillance.

Installing driver-facing cameras in commercial cabs crosses a line, stripping away basic privacy from adults who have earned our trust.

If this is truly about "safety," then why don’t we just put cameras in everybody’s workspace?

Let's put them on the safety director, everyone in administration, and the team in human resources to see what they’re up to all day.

Drivers are skilled professionals, not individuals who need to be micromanaged.

Forcing a camera into their workspace creates unnecessary nervousness and stress, which can easily distract a driver and cause an accident.

It is time to treat drivers like adults and protect their right to privacy.
