🌟 HISTORIC MOMENT FOR TEXAS: Breaking Barriers in Dementia Care 🌟

Today marks a groundbreaking milestone for our state! For the FIRST TIME in Texas, a comprehensive ADRD (Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias) service project of this scale is launching right here in Fort Worth.

Dr. Bashir Easter, founder of Melanin Minded and Navigator Transportation, is leading the charge to create dementia-capable transportation services specifically designed to serve seniors, caregivers, and individuals living with ADRD.

Why This Matters:

Transportation is often the invisible barrier that prevents families from accessing critical healthcare, social activities, and support services. For communities already facing health disparities, this gap can be devastating. Navigator Transportation isn't just about rides it's about dignity, independence, and ensuring that NO family is left behind in the fight against dementia.

This movement represents what's possible when organizations unite with purpose. We're grateful to our incredible partners who believed in this vision:

✨ Eisai
✨ The GIFT Church
✨ AGE-u-cate
✨ ALTER
✨ Dementia Friendly Fort Worth
✨ UNT Health
✨ AFTD (Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration)
✨ And ALL our supporters who made this possible

Join us TODAY at the Como Community Center (4660 Horne St, Fort Worth) from 1:00-3:00 PM to learn how YOUR church or organization can be part of this transformative movement. Special THANK YOU to Edward Smith, Pat Spence, & Bishop Donald Hayes.

Together, we're not just changing transportation we're changing lives. 💜

Honoring a powerful moment of learning and reflection from the Zion Baptist Church of Marietta Caregiver Conference, where this introduction was shared by founder Dr. Sandra Ervin.

The message deeply resonated with Dr. Bashir Easter, Founder of Melanin Minded LLC & Melanin Minded Foundation, whose work is rooted in lived caregiving experience and community impact.

“Dementia does not take away a person’s humanity it changes how the brain allows that humanity to be expressed.”

As both a former caregiver for his mother and a published researcher, Dr. Easter has seen how dementia is often misunderstood as behavior rather than a brain-based condition. His work emphasizes that when communities shift from judgment to understanding, they create space for dignity, patience, and meaningful connection.

Through his leadership, Dr. Easter continues to highlight that caregivers are often the quiet strength within families and communities carrying both love and burden. Supporting them means strengthening not only individuals, but entire communities.

Grateful for spaces like this conference that continue to elevate the voices, experiences, and purpose of caregivers.
