Congratulations to START Bus for rolling out new commuter buses in the Greater Teton Region, part of a series of federally supported projects that will improve ways to get people to jobs and opportunities. At a recent event, FTA Regional Administrator Cindy Terwilliger joined local officials to cut the ribbon on 4 new buses that will provide fast, efficient service for the 4,500 people – and counting – who ride the bus each month in and around Jackson, WY.

START BUS ANNOUNCES NO CHANGES TO SERVICES OVER WINTER HOLIDAY

START Bus has announced that all bus services will be business as normal over the winter holidays.

There will be no changes or alterations to any of the services normally scheduled.

The commuter bus services will continue to run normal routes on December 26, 2022 and on January 2, 2023. Commuter bus services currently do not operate on Saturdays or Sundays.

Day After Christmas
Monday, December 26th
All routes will run as normal.

Day After New Year’s
Monday, January 2nd
All routes will run as normal.

All other scheduled routes will continue to run as normal throughout the winter holidays.

Listen in to this week's edition of "This is Our Town" as Bruce Abel, the START Bus Director, talks to Del Ray in the KJAX (93.5 FM) studios.

Bruce talks about the new service areas of START On-Demand including a pilot program in Rafter J, Melody Ranch and South Park. In addition the existing START On-Demand program in East Jackson will now offer a pick-up / drop-off option to Albertsons.

START Bus On-Demand: this service provides free, on-demand transportation using smaller vehicles and providing seamless public transport. Riders will be able to schedule service through an app from their location to any destination in East Jackson including to START’s transit hub at Miller Park for connection to commuter and local and Teton Village routes. The new offerings will also offer East Jackson service access to Albertsons and it will service Rafter J, Melody Ranch and South Park - giving access to Smith's / Eagle Village Plaza.

START BUS ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL START ON-DEMAND WINTER SERVICES

Starting Thursday, December 1, 2022 START Bus will be adding two START On-Demand services to the existing microtransit operations:

1. An East Jackson to Albertson’s pick-up/drop-off point
2. South Town pilot program encompassing Melody Ranch, Rafter J and South Park.

START’s On-Demand Microtransit operations launched last year and have experienced much success. The two areas of expansion will address needs that the community has expressed: East Jackson access to grocery options and service in the South Jackson neighborhoods.

EAST JACKSON MICROTRANSIT ADDING ALBERTSONS:

Beginning on Thursday, December 1, 2022, the START On-Demand Microtransit Service in East Jackson will add a point pick-up and drop-off at Albertson’s.

Trips to and from Albertsons from the existing East Jackson zone will be available everyday during the service hours of 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Service hours for the East Jackson START On-Demand service zone will continue to be 6:00 AM – 12:00 AM (midnight) during Winter and Summer seasons, with Spring and Fall Season hours staying at 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM.

Please note: Albertsons is the only location being added to the existing East Jackson service zone.

KICK-OFF OF NEW SOUTH TOWN MICROTRANSIT PILOT PROGRAM

Starting on Thursday, December 1st, 2022, START On-Demand will kick-off a pilot program to serve South Jackson neighborhoods for free.

This new service zone will be available every day from 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM and connects the South Park, Rafter J and Melody Ranch neighborhoods to the bus stop at Smith’s.

Riders in these neighborhoods will be able to request rides to and from the Smith’s bus stop at Eagle Village Shopping Center for shopping and connections to the Town Shuttle and Teton Village South fixed routes.
