Kristin Surdy, a Mayo Clinic nurse, shares how her journey from cancer patient to caregiver has come full circle, shaped by her experience receiving care.

Before her diagnosis, Kristin had spent more than three decades in nursing, primarily in leadership roles focused on hiring, training and operations. She had long considered returning to a role with more direct patient care.

Her experience as a patient helped clarify that decision.

Starting April 2, 2026, a new Connexion Plus fare structure will take effect.

The updated rate will be $10 for the first 12 miles and $2.50 per mile thereafter, with no limit on the number of monthly trips.

As a reminder, the Connexion paratransit fare was lowered to $2 from February 1 to July 31 as part of our Fare Modification Pilot program.

The approved rates are the result of several working and collaborative meetings with paratransit community partners, accessibility advocates, city officials and local nonprofit leaders to reach a mutually agreeable solution that sustains the Connexion Plus service into the future with the most affordable fare possible for our customers.

We appreciate the input from our community and remain committed to providing safe, accessible and reliable mobility options for everyone.
