Job opportunity available in the wood shop of a small, high-end crating and packing company. Located near LAX. We are a well-established business with a culture of cooperation and respect for employees.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Crater must have existing carpentry skills with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience, and ability to take instruction, communicate clearly, then work independently.
- No prior crate-specific experience needed, but must be able to create precise and aesthetic work product, as well as learn and incorporate feedback.
- Candidate must be able to take appropriate care in high-value warehouse environment.
- Forklift skills a plus, but not required.
- Flexible hours, hourly rate commensurate with experience.
- Must be able to lift heavy sheet goods safely.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to read and process crate designs to given specifications.
- Safely operate power tools and related equipment to manufacture individually designed wood crates for the handling, packing, and shipping of fine art, antiques and artifacts.
- Prepare insulation, cushioning foams and inner packing materials according to a variety of design specifications.
- Perform shop maintenance, safety inspections, and other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Participate in training in the areas of shop safety and production.
