The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, one of the most exclusive and scenic parts of the French Riviera, was constructed between 1905 and 1912 for Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, to reflect her eclectic taste and love for art. Designed in the style of an Italian palazzo, its pink façade stands out against the azure Mediterranean backdrop.
Inside, the villa houses an extensive collection of artworks, including Old Master paintings, rare porcelain, and antique furniture, all meticulously curated by the Baroness herself.
The villa is renowned for its nine themed gardens, each offering a unique horticultural experience. Visitors can wander through the French garden, complete with musical fountains and a Temple of Love, or explore the exotic garden filled with cacti and succulents.
Other gardens include Spanish, Florentine, Japanese, and Provençal styles, each meticulously landscaped to provide a distinct ambiance. These gardens not only showcase a diverse range of plant species but also offer panoramic views of the surrounding sea and coastline.
Today, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a museum, inviting visitors to step back in time and experience the opulence of the Belle Époque era. Throughout the year, the villa hosts various cultural events, including concerts and exhibitions, allowing guests to enjoy art and music in a setting of unparalleled beauty.
