The history of the Bennett Family of Companies is a great story about how a small company can flourish into an industry leader with the right people behind the wheel. Bennett consists of several different companies that specialize in every aspect of transport. Bennett’s start was rather small. In 1974, Marcia G. Taylor and her late husband, J.D. Garrison, purchased George Bennett Motor Express, which was a small contract carrier with only two customers and five trucks. More than 46 years later, Bennett has grown into international, full-service transportation company with thousands of clients across the globe. Bennett’s success is reflected in the numerous awards acquired through the years including consecutive years of top rankings in Transport Topics’ annual Top 100 transport carriers listing, Inbound Logistics Top 100 Trucker listing and No. 1 on Atlanta’s Top 20 Woman-Owned Firms for the last 16 consecutive years. In 2020, Bennett ranked as a Top Company for Women to Work For in Trucking’s Redefining the Road magazine. Taylor attributes Bennett’s success to the company’s employees, agents, customers, and owner/operators.
