George C Potterfield Trucking Inc. is a trucking company located in Monroe City, Mo. We own and operate 25 tractors, 32 van trailers, and 22 dump trailers.

Brief Company History:

G.C.(Bud) Potterfield returned from WWII in 1947 and joined his father, C.F. Potterfield, in hauling lime and fertilizers to area farmers. In 1952, Bud bought a used Chevy truck and began hauling lime, fertilizer, rock, and sand. He married Patricia Ann Garrett in December of that year. Bud would work on his truck at night, after driving during the day. They had no sho

p, so work on the truck was done outside while Pat held a flashlight and handed him tools. In 1956, he bought another truck with a lime bed and hired a driver. Pat took orders and did the bookkeeping in the home, along with caring for their four children. Around 1958, Central Trucking was formed with several area truckers. After a few years, Bud Potterfield, Ren Potterfield, and Sam Lomax left Central Trucking to form Lomax and Potterfield Trucking Company. They operated under this company till 1971 when the three of them began their own separate businesses. In 1973, Bud learned he had a heart problem, so he downsized his business. His son Randy began driving a truck in June of 1973. He stopped driving in 1980 to start working in the shop and office. In 1988, the company started pulling van trailers for a local factory and soon found the freight business was growing rapidly. Bud passed away in July of 1991, leaving his son Randy as President of the corporation. Randy's two sons, Josh and Justin, are also in the trucking business. They own trucks of their own and run many owner/operators. We contribute our success and growth of our business of these many years, to all the great customers that have used our services and our dedicate, hardworking employees, in which many have been with us for 20+ years. We consider them all great friends!
