🚛 New Smyrna Beach continues to make progress toward its transition from Waste Pro to FCC Environmental Services, which will begin providing residential and commercial solid waste services on Oct. 1.
City staff met with FCC representatives this week to review transition efforts and confirm readiness. FCC is now fully staffed, with new drivers actively training and management personnel in place to support local operations.
Residents may begin seeing FCC vehicles throughout the city next week as drivers conduct practice runs to familiarize themselves with collection routes before service officially begins. Thirteen of the 17 collection vehicles assigned to New Smyrna Beach are already onsite, and the remaining trucks are expected to arrive soon.
FCC is also completing delivery of residential totes, with the remaining shipments scheduled to arrive over the next week. Delivery of new commercial front-load containers is underway, with most of the city's 533 commercial containers expected to be delivered next week.
To help ensure a smooth startup, FCC has committed additional drivers, trucks, and management personnel during the first several weeks of service. The city will also gain access to enhanced fleet monitoring technology, including vehicle GPS tracking and collection verification systems, providing greater operational visibility and accountability.
As the transition approaches, the city continues to receive a high volume of calls from residents seeking information about the new service. Common questions involve requests for smaller carts or additional carts. To date, approximately 147 residents have requested smaller containers, representing a relatively small percentage of all customers.
FCC recently mailed informational flyers to commercial customers and encourages them to review the materials for service details and answers to frequently asked questions.
We appreciate residents' patience during this transition and look forward to working with FCC Environmental Services to provide reliable, responsive solid waste service beginning Oct. 1.
