REQUEST FOR PROJECTS

STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT FUND (STIF)

2027-2029 FORMULA FUND CYCLE

Public Transportation Service Providers (PTSPs) are hereby notified that Malheur County is currently accepting applications for the 2027-2029 Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) cycle.

Interested PTSPs (see definition found in OAR 732-040-0032) who are eligible, shall complete the STIF Plan Template available online at the following link https://www.cognitoforms.com/odot2/subrecipientprojectapplication202729/

Completed STIF plan templates must be submitted to Malheur County by 5:00 pm on November 10, 2026. Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Malheur County STIF Advisory Committee in accordance with Malheur County Advisory Committee Bylaws and Oregon Administrative Rules. The Advisory Committee will make a recommendation to the Malheur County Court, who will determine the final selection of projects to be included in the 2027-2029 STIF Plan.

It has come to our attention that passengers can no longer buy a ticket for our Bend-Ontario route from Greyhound or FlixBus. We don't have an estimate for when ticketing will become available again. 🌈 The More You Know…

Did you know Oregon’s public transportation funding through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) comes from a payroll tax?

And here’s the part a lot of people may not know:

The payroll tax dollars generated in our area are allocated back to our area to help fund public transportation in Malheur County. 🚌

So when STIF funding supports transit here in Malheur County, it’s helping turn those locally generated transportation dollars into transportation services right here in our community.

Pretty cool, right? 😊
