Arizona RVs have their own "residents" that may be in there or just a big handful of debris that blew in during the last dust storm and has gummed up your AC unit (looking at you, bougainvillea petals).

Be sure to take the shroud off and clean this out at LEAST once a year and definitely right after any summer dust storms.

RV owners, it’s spring time and a lot of you are just getting your rigs ready for the season.

If you go to fire up your AC and all you hear is a hum with no fan movement… don’t panic just yet.

There’s a good chance Tweety Bird moved in over the winter.

I find this every single spring — birds love building nests inside AC shrouds, and it doesn’t take much to stop that fan blade from spinning.

Sometimes it’ll still try to spin, but now you’ve got debris hitting the fan, which can damage it pretty quick.

Before you assume something’s broken, take a minute to pop the cover and make sure nobody set up shop in there.

Little check now can save you from a bigger repair later.

NEW LAW THAT AFFECTS FULL TIME RV RESIDENTS

Attention Arizona full time RV friends:

Your landlord may not prohibit you from installing extra air conditioning equipment on your RV.

It is the state law, effective May 12, 2025.

It is sad that the legislature had to act on something so obviously essential to your ability to live in your RV in the summer here and could be a matter of survival for some without shade in lower elevations. But, thankfully they did it and now it is the law of the land.

State Representative Matt Gress (district 4) sponsored House Bill 2168 and it was passed UNANIMOUSLY by the entire legislature and signed by the Governor with an *emergency measure.

*"Emergency Measure" means it went into effect upon the governor's signature and does not wait the normal amount of time normally prescribed for new laws.

You might consider calling or sending an email to thank your own State Senator or State Representatives for their "Yes" vote on this important bill that will directly benefit you when you need to improve your AC system in your own RV someday.

Or, reach out to the sponsor and thank him for authoring this bill and shepherding it through the process to become a law that protects you and your family.

It isn't just how much TOTAL weight you have in your RV when it is time to move. Think about the heavy things in your drawers and cabinets that may break your not-like-a-house storage cabinets in your RV. Put those things in bins on the floor when you move to protect your investment (and avoid a messy cleanup upon arrival at your next destination).
