It was a beautiful day for a parade! Briggs participated in the 25th Annual Memorial Day Bike Parade. Bought in October of 1959 by Bob McGoff and Chuck Woods Briggs started out as a local taxi company. Nicknamed "The Point Pleasant Playboys" (hey.....you could say stuff like that back then!! 🤪) Bob and Chuck brought locals back and forth to work and tourists from the train station to any destination, always looking to grow the business. And with hard work and determination grow it did! Some years later Chuck decided to branch out and take his career to a different direction so Bob took the business over solely and with a wing (or I should say tire) and a prayer believed that he could sustain his young family for a while. Well....while raising four girls, Bob's wife Barbara joined in to help. Barbara's generous and compassionate spirit, hard-working attitude and steely determination helped drive (see what I did there! 😊) the business even further! I joined in 1984 and I had never met two nicer, hard-working people than Bob and Barbara. Briggs is the epitome of the American dream and that's why I've gone off on this tangent. I thought it was appropriate to show just what our ancestors, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, etc. fought and are still fighting for.....the American Dream. Take a moment to say a prayer for the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. We should NEVER forget them! Carried into the (coming up) 67th year with Laura and Susan at the helm Briggs is going as strong as ever. With the hard work ethic learned from their parents they (and sisters Nancy and Barbara, who help out when needed) keep one of the longest family-owned businesses in the Point Pleasant area running smoothly! Call Briggs at 732-892-1313 or 732-892-0465 between the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for local rides and/or for prearranged hourly and airport transportation. As Bob would say, "Keep Smiling!". And...Always walk on the sunny side of the street! 😊
