Early Tuesday morning a driver fell asleep on westbound I-90 near North Bend and ran into our truck mounted attenuator, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of the car was transported by ambulance though the State Patrol reported no major injuries and said the driver was also arrested for suspected impaired driving. Fortunately the driver of the attenuator truck wasn't in the vehicle and no workers were hurt as the attenuator again did its job to protect the crew.

This is Work Zone Safety Awareness Month. This type of incident is all too common. Almost 95 percent of people hurt in work zone crashes are the driver, passengers or passing pedestrians, not workers, so it's in everyone's interest that you are alert and focused every time you are operating a vehicle.
