A new message sent from Love's Travel Stops cautioned that drivers might see transitory diesel fuel deficiencies in a few east coast states.

In the midst of soaring diesel fuel costs, numerous media sources have revealed that there could be significant diesel fuel supply issues on the east coast in the months ahead.

In the Bloomberg article “U.S. East Coast Diesel Supply Is Running on Fumes,” the outlet reported that “east coast inventories of diesel plunged to the lowest seasonal level since government records started more than 30 years ago.”

As of late, Love's Travel Stops made an impression on armada clients advance notice that drivers might see transitory fuel supply issues in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

FMCSA Reopens Speed Limiter Rule

The big picture: FMCSA is once again considering a rule that would mandate speed limiters on commercial trucks.
The latest proposal seeks additional information about whether trucks with an electric engine control unit should be restricted to certain speeds. FMCSA’s previous proposal in 2016 suggested 60, 65, or 68 MPH.

Studies and research have proven that traffic is safest when all vehicles travel at the same relative speed.

By the numbers: The frequency of interactions with other vehicles increases 227% when a vehicle travels 10-mph below the speed of traffic.

Fuel rates are down, but fuel is still climbing.
Diesel prices were up for the sixth time in eight weeks according to the Energy Information Administration’s most recent report.
Week-to-week: the national average price per gallon of diesel is now $5.623, up from $5.509 last week.

That national average is $2.437 higher than it was one year ago.

By the numbers: This week’s lowest average price per gallon is $5.339 (Gulf Coast), and the highest is $6.461 (California).
The East Coast, New England, and Central Atlantic regions all increased by more than 20 cents.
