Hey y'all, so late last night a lady called me and normally I don't answer that late but I did cause I was up working and she was the sweetest but also very upset and crying because she didn't know what to do So I wanted to drop few tips for dispatchers to help save you few headaches
1. Do not over commit, meaning DO NOT promise things just to get someone on board with you! That you know might be impossible, this is your reputation!
2. Unless y'all have an understanding, DONT work with someone who self dispatches. IE: OP: Hey I dispatch myself to Utah need you get me a load out of here
Now the dispatcher is stressed because there aren't any loads, and the driver is now mad and fussing cause you can't get him out!
3. Don't let someone make you say you can provide certain salary requirements, especially when they have tons of restrictions, only want stay local within 200 miles, only has box truck, no weekends etc but wants you to promise 10k a week umm sir/ma'am 😑😐👀
4. DISPATCHER IT IS YOUR JOB TO KEEP UP WITH CHECK CALLS, it's your job to keep the broker updated with good & BAD communication, so the broker can be able to handle any set backs or delays with said customer! You have to communicate! If it's at 2am makes sure the driver has emails, or number to reach broker in case you don't answer!
5. Make sure you're organized so you won't misplace a load or not know if you accepted a load or who you gave the load too! It'll be long day if you send wrong address to wrong driver or forget you took a load!
Be prepared, set yourself up for success and greatness! This business is hard so don't make it harder when it doesn't have to be!
I hope you guys are working towards your 2023 goals keep pushing 💪🏾
