What’s going on on Pyramid Way? 🚧

If your drive on Pyramid felt a little different today, you’re not imagining it. Northbound and southbound traffic has shifted to the outside of the road, handing the middle of the corridor over to crews who will excavate, pave and build new median curb.

The biggest change is at Calle De La Plata, where right-turn lanes are now combined with through lanes in both directions. Left-turn pockets are still open northbound and southbound.

Crews are working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, weather permitting.

Heading through? Watch the posted work zone speed, follow signs, cones and flaggers, keep an eye out for trucks entering and leaving the work area, and put the phone down. A few extra minutes during the morning and evening commute will help too. Thanks for your patience while Pyramid gets its upgrade!

Galletti Way will close to through traffic between Battle Born Way and Glendale Avenue starting Monday, Oct. 26, as crews pave the roadway and complete the final phase of rehabilitation ahead of winter weather. Reopening is expected by Friday, Nov. 13, weather permitting.

Detour: Battle Born Way, North Street, 21st Street and Glendale Avenue. Access to 480 Galletti Way will be maintained via North Street, and businesses along the corridor remain open.

Sparks Boulevard update: New pavement is on the way this weekend.

Sparks Boulevard will close from Disc Drive to just south of Baring Boulevard from 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. Paving depends on the weather, so the schedule may shift. Baring Boulevard will also close between Goldy Way and Springland Drive while crews pave the travel lanes, turn pockets and the Sparks-Baring intersection. South of the closure, Sparks Boulevard will stay open to southbound traffic only down to Prater Way.

Heads up Washoe County!

The National Weather Service says rain, gusty winds and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast tonight through Thursday, with snow possible at higher elevations. Some showers may bring heavy rain and localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas and near recent burn scars.

Take extra caution if you live in or near these burn scars. After a fire, burned soil may repel water, allowing rain to run off quickly and carry ash, rocks and debris downhill.

Take time now to prepare:

• Clear leaves and debris from gutters and drains around your property.
• Fill sandbags if you need them.
• Never walk or drive through floodwater. Turn around and find another route.

The Keystone Avenue Bridge has carried traffic over the Truckee River since 1966, and its replacement is getting closer.

Downtown Reno just got a lot greener. 🚲

Yesterday, RTC commissioners, staff and our partners at the City of Reno gathered under the Reno Arch to celebrate the new bright green bike lanes on Virginia Street, the first in a series of upgrades coming with the Biggest Little Bike Network.

Why just cut a ribbon when you can ride through it in a pedicab?

The Biggest Little Bike Network will make it safer and easier to walk, bike and scoot between the University of Nevada, Downtown and MidTown, while keeping access open for drivers and local businesses. Construction continues on Virginia, Fifth and Vine streets and the Evans Avenue/Lake Street/Sinclair Street corridor, with completion expected in summer 2027.
