It’s the birthday of Palisades Dam today!

The Secretary of the Interior initially authorized the Palisades Project on December 9, 1941, under the provisions of Section 9 of the Reclamation Project Act of 1939 (53 Stat. 1187). The Congress reauthorized the Palisades Project on September 30, 1950 (Public Law 864, 81st Congress), in accordance with a supplemental report approved by the Secretary of the Interior in 1949. Happy new year from our SFS family! We are looking forward to making our 2026 season the best yet. This year we will begin our 40th season of 39 years servicing the South Fork. Much has changed in those 39 years, but our dedication to this beautiful place has only grown. There is no place like the South Fork ❤️🎊

A quick pause for some bird watching is a regular thing for us. Not pictured is the grey owl we saw shortly beforehand . 🦉 🦅

This was a special fish. The South Fork holds many fish. Many big fish. But a Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout like this is not common. Yesterday, our guests caught numerous 20+ inch fish. It was special. holds the prize.
