Even though my babies are now teenagers,
when I close my eyes I can hear the echoes of
the little children they used to be.
Because those little versions are still there.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
in the dimples on their faces.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
in their sweet expressions when they fall asleep.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
in the way they throw their heads back when they find something truly funny.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
in their still-favorite blankets.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
every time they choose to sit down beside me on the sofa to watch tv.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
every time they put down their devices and pick up a guitar or pull out the piano bench.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
no matter how old their current versions get.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
even when they tower over me.
π»πππ πππ πππππ...
always.
And what a gift it is to watch the sweet merging of all those versions of my babies.
