Spike and his crew flew into San Antonio and checked into The Hotel Emma

He chose to ride up front with me in Max, and what started as a simple trip turned into an afternoon I won’t forget

From River Center Mall to a spontaneous stop at a Brooklyn Avenue sign on Broadway, I found myself serving as both chauffeur and unofficial bodyguard as admirers approached at every turn. He never declined a single photo request or autograph, not once

Gracious, genuine, and all about his people, even the Spurs fans

Does it pain me slightly to acknowledge he called that game correctly? I’ll let you draw your own conclusions

What I will say without hesitation is it would be an honor to welcome him back to San Antonio anytime.
