SLO Transit Providing Transportation for the City of San Luis Obispo since 1974. The City has an estimated population of 42,963 (2006 Census Bureau estimate).

The City of San Luis Obispo is centrally located in California between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo is also home to the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a major source of population, employment, and other overall economic and social impacts. San Luis Obispo Transit (SLO Transit), a City entity with service operation contracted to First Transit, provides fixed-r

oute bus service throughout the City of San Luis Obispo. SLO Transit operates a total of eight regular bus routes on weekdays and four routes on weekends, as well as a Downtown Trolley Thursdays through Sundays. SLO Transit has carried more than 1 million riders during the last two Fiscal Years.

Route 3A and 3B Detours

Effective Monday, 6/15/26 – Friday, 7/17/26, due to construction in the Cal Poly area, SLO Transit will operate detours for routes 3A and 3B. Both routes will travel along North Perimeter to provide continued service to Cal Poly. Both routes will temporarily serve the PAC stops during the detours. Please see the following, temporary changes:

Effective Today, 6/4/2026, SLO Transit will operate a modified Laguna Tripper service with a mid-day loop beginning at 12:15pm, and no evening loop beginning at 3:10pm. The mid-day loop will begin at LOVR at Auto Park Way, at 12:15pm with the following timepoint stops being served at these designated times:

LOVR at Auto Park Way: 12:15pm
LOVR at Laguna Lane: 12:20pm
Foothill at La Entrada: 12:30pm
Foothill at Chorro: 12:35pm
Transit Center: 12:45pm

Construction will continue into Thursday, 4/30/26 with impacts to two bus bays and temporary parking remaining the same.

Rider Alert - Effective Mon, 4/27/26 through Thu, 4/30/26, all day, due to construction on Osos Street near the Transit Center, two bus bays will be closed and a temporary stop will be in effect, in front of City Hall at 990 Palm Street.

SLO Transit does not expect missed service but encourages riders to anticipate some minor delays. For up-to-date information on routes and schedules, please call Transit Dispatch at (805) 541-2877.
