CVSA Releases 2026 Roadcheck Results: 54,575 Inspections, 13,534 Out-of-Service Orders in 72 Hours, Brakes Top Vehicle Violations, No Medical Card Tops Driver Violations
NORTH AMERICA — The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance released results from its annual Roadcheck inspection blitz on August 25, revealing that 13,534 trucks and drivers were pulled off North American roads during the 72-hour campaign held May 12 to 14, 2026, with brake system violations leading all vehicle defects and missing medical cards topping driver violations.
A total of 54,575 inspections were conducted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico during the three-day effort. Of those, 81% of vehicles and 94.2% of drivers had no out-of-service violations. A total of 17,680 CVSA decals were issued to vehicles with no critical safety or equipment violations.

Focus Areas
This year's Roadcheck focused on cargo securement and ELD tampering. Inspectors found 1,724 cargo securement out-of-service violations and issued 146 out-of-service orders specifically for ELD tampering.
Hazmat
2,590 hazmat inspections were conducted, resulting in 368 vehicle out-of-service violations, 63 driver out-of-service violations, and 141 hazmat-specific violations. The top hazmat violation was placarding with 40 violations.
