Senior Pattern Association Contest

The club will be hosting a pattern contest on sept the 10th, as noted in the minutes, Chuck Lee will be the contest director for this event. If you are not familiar with the SPA it is all about flying the old, "GOOD", style of pattern with one maneuver per pass, with pattern planes designed before 1979. The name senior is deceiving as it is open to all ages and really refers to the age of flying. Membership in the SPA is not required to fly in the event and in fact any plane, not just a pattern plane can be flown in the basic class and is encouraged for beginners.

More info to follow as we get closer to the event.

Chuck Lee's beautiful Atlas pattern plane, this one is electric-powered!!

Club Meeting 11/13/2021

We will be having a club meeting at the field on Saturday, November 13th at 10 AM. There will be many things to discuss but the most important item will be Club Officers.

Mikeal, Ted, and Robert stepped in last year as Officers to make sure we could continue as a sanctioned club, and they all deserve a huge “Thank You!” for keeping everything going. With that said, and for various reasons, they will be stepping down as Officers. They have all expressed a willingness to continue to help where they can and will continue to be a positive influence on the club, as so many others are.

We need to fill these roles by the end of the year and volunteers and/or nominations are needed!

Please submit candidates by email to [email protected] and include an email address and/or contact number of the candidate so we can verify their willingness to serve as an Officer. A brief reason as to why the candidate would be a good choice would also be helpful.

Voting will close at the December 11th meeting and results posted on the club’s website by day's end. Votes may be turned in during the meeting with supplied ballots or by voting online prior to the December 11th meeting. It is expected to have the online voting live at least one week prior to the December meeting.

Let the campaigning begin!

Below is a segment from AMA on Officer responsibilities. The full article can be found at:
https://www.modelaircraft.org/sites/default/files/ClubOfficerSuggestedDuties.pdf

President:
The president is the executive officer of the club and presides at all meetings. He or she is the
spokesperson for the club. He or she appoints standings and special committees as deemed
necessary. The president will cast the deciding vote in case of a tied vote.

Vice President:
He or she assists the president in all matters and assumes the duties of the president if for any
reason the president is unable to perform those duties. The vice president is responsible for the
club meeting schedules and other club events whether scheduled or requested by the club
officers or members.

Secretary and/or Treasurer:
The secretary/treasurer keeps accurate minutes of all regular scheduled and called club
meetings and records attendance. He or she maintains an up-to-date membership record of all
club members including mailing addresses, AMA membership numbers, and other contact
information.
He or she manages all club funds, collects dues when they are payable, and is authorized to
pay any and all club obligations from these funds. Appropriate record keeping of all monetary
transactions is expected and a treasurer’s report is presented at each scheduled club meeting.
If the vice president is unable to perform his or her duties, the secretary/treasurer assists with or
takes over the duties as needed.

Safety Coordinator (this role will be assigned to one of the three officers):
The safety coordinator promotes and encourages a climate of safety awareness within the club.
He or she provides a communications between AMA and the club in matters related to safety. A
safety audit of club facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure everything is in good working
order and safe for normal use by members and the public is recommended at least annually. He
or she establishes a club emergency action plan to handle serious accidents/incidents and
annually reviews emergency procedures with club members.

More information on the agenda for the November meeting will be coming soon.

Yesterday was one of them days!! If you were there then you know what “them days” are all about. If you weren’t..... then you missed out. It was a great day of flying! Weather was perfect with a slight breeze strait down the runway. Good to see everyone out and can’t wait to do it again.
